This little treat is called Happy Bread. Haha yea, I know! Some of them are smiling and some of them are frowning, I don't know why. But these little delicious treats are just bread filled with squashed bananas. I love to smear a little peanut butter on their happy little faces and eat it up. Bananas are so expensive here so paying a dollar for a banana treat is a good deal!
For dinner we decided to try the Lotteria. It's basically a Korean McDonalds. I got a teriyaki chicken sandwich (it was tasty and weird). Jacob got, what he believed to be, a burger with one meat patty and one chicken patty. After taking a bite he was pleasantly surprised to find that the burger has one meat patty and one FRIED CHEESE patty. Haha talk about yummy!

We went to dinner, had our burgers, and decided on Baskin Robins for dessert. In Korea, it's really ice cream or pastries. The desserts are pretty limited. We went to BR and ordered a banana split. Apparently, this is an unusual order as the lady had to run to the grocery store across the street and buy some bananas. In America, they would've just said "Um sorry, we don't have any bananas". But in Korea, they run across the street in the dark and cold weather and buy bananas.

He wasn't fast enough! ^_^
(We shared, of course! For those who don't understand my humor, thought I would add this in so you didn't think I was some horrible person who eats all of the dessert without sharing...I learned sharing in kindergarten!)
This weekend has been rainy so far. We went to Itaewon Saturday but I only took a few photos because it was pouring the majority of the time. We found some transformer statue thing outside of a hotel. Jacob wanted a picture next to it...
I guess you could say we had a very American weekend. Itaewon got a Taco Bell not too long ago. We decided to try it to see how different the food was. The Crunchwrap was tasty - Korea chicken is definitely better. The Fire sauce was ketchupy however and lacked the true Fire flavor.
On an entirely different note...
I said I would take pictures of my classroom/office and I did that on Friday. This is my classroom complete with 36 desks.
This is my office. I had a little computer that is fairly awful as it has 1/2g memory and running XP. Blaurgh! I deal with the slowness. Been thinking about bringing my laptop but not sure if it would be okay...
My office is pretty big. See that stack of papers on the table? The stack of papers behind it? The stack of papers on the second shelf of the gray bookshelf? Yea, I've been going through the worksheets that the other English teachers left behind. Sooooo many. It was once a huge messy pile. Now it's organized (mostly!).
That's all folks! I'll try to do something more interesting this week so I have something to update with. Hopefully it won't be so rainy!
Awww you poor thing having to eat mingin Lotteria for your Birthday. Yuck. We must have some more celebrations in Hongdae this weekend!
ReplyDeleteCan you take pics of the kids? I want to see your classroom, with the kids in it! And you teaching!!!
ReplyDeleteMissed you on your bday babe, but I'm glad you had a great time!
Janet - festival this weekend!
ReplyDeleteTiffany - Hmmm I don't know...I'll have to ask my KT if it's okay to take pictures of one of the classes. It isn't something commonly done in any classroom. One of the teachers did take pictures of my science, however, so I'll ask her for those.
