We just got back from the market where I had a wonderful experience.
As we were walking along the sidewalk, I pointed to a "tomato" and asked Jacob if he wanted to get some. The shopkeeper sees me point and exclaims "You try! You try!". He then proceeds to split the "tomato" in half, handing Jacob and me each a piece. I look at the man and down at the "tomato", back at the man, then ask while gesturing "I just eat it?" He nods and ushers me to try it. I tentatively squeeze the skin together so that the insides push upwards, quickly slurping up the delicate tissue.
To my surprise...this was no tomato!

Back to my new love. Below is the most delicious thing I have tasted by way of fruit. Delicate, sweet, and fun to eat. The persimmon has moved up the ladder and is now my favorite fruit.

Haha, this is funny because the same thing happened to me and my boyfriend two weekends ago in Yeoju. For the exception that I kept saying "no, its not a tomato" and he kept saying "yes, this is a tomato!"
ReplyDeleteThe street lady then cut it in half and once again, I was right and he was wrong :D
Ha that's mad. Looks just like a tomato!
