Hongdae

Sooooo Jacob and I joined a group of Facebook, I added a girl who just moved here, she posted that she was going to Hongdae...we decided to go. ZOMG. I luffs Hongdae. It is the party district of Seoul - tons of bars and clubs. I'm not a big club hopper, bars are my cup of tea. We went to HoBar III first.
Janet, the girl on the left, is the girl we met up with from Facebook. She called Brittney, girl on right obviously, and we traveled to the HoBar. This was just a bar, not a strip club - dirty minded peoples! It was a nice bar, a little strange because you had to buy your drinks from one guy then pick them up at another station.
We met a lot of interesting people. Janet and Brittney are both teaching here. Janet comes from Ireland and has been all over the world traveling. Brittney hails from Wisconsin and taught in Japan for a month before coming to Korea.
The girl on the left here is Sophie (Sophia?) and she is French. She was with a guy named Pascal who is a nuclear civil engineer. She was just here for the night before going onto some other country.
The girl on the right was an Korean girl who showed up. Neither Jacob or I remember her name though.

Now here was an interesting character. The man on the right with the awesome cowboy hat is Graham. That's Gray-ham with two syllables, not Gram like the unit of weight. He's from Liverpool and has a mission in life that he is almost finished with. He is currently traveling to every country in the world WITHOUT flying. He's been to every state (greyhound), Canada, every country in Africa and Europe, most (if not all - can't remember) of the Middle East, and is currently making his way around Asia. He's almost finished. Remarkable. He was leaving in the morning to do the DMZ tour so he could step foot in North Korea then he was off to China to go to Thailand, etc. It was awesome to listen to him. Very intelligent guy. Very funny.
The other bloke in the picture with the checked shirt is from...and this was pretty amazing...LaGrange, Georgia. Haha we laughed for a while at the fact that we were probably the only three people from Georgia in Seoul and we were at the same bar.
The lady to the right here was just interesting because of where she was from. She's Korean but was born and raised in Argentina. She's traveling around the globe for no reason. Going to France in a few weeks to study. She's a really good singer. Which brings me to our next event!
NORAEBANG! Korean Karaoke!

This was some of the crew we went with over the night. People kept filtering in and out - depending on the place we went to.
We had the room for an hour and free ice cream. Pretty awesome. We sang all sorts of stuff - everything from "We Will Rock You" to "Under the Sea".

After noraebang - more dirnking! The girl on the right is Leslie. She was just plain fun.

The cap is on that bottle! Haha, looks like she's just pouring vodka into her mouth. We were at some other bar that was having 80s and 90s night. For $45 dollars we got a bottle of vodka, nachos & side dish (which consisted of tortilla chips and salsa as the side dish - apparently Koreans don't know what nachos are), orange & cranberry juice, and ice. Yup. Got 6 people drunk for $45. Not too bad!
Lots of great music too. So great in fact...

We had to dance on the furniture! haha
The guy in the yellow shirt was with a bunch of other random guys. They bought us all shots (Jacob included! Not just the girls!) and we all danced on the tables and chairs. Those two tables were broken in the battle, however. Not by us! The other guys broke the tables because they kept jumping and wiggling around on them. We were smart enough to stick to the chairs only.
More table dancing. I don't know if you can tell in any of these photos but the guy in the yellow tank top was missing his front teeth. Hill-air-e-us.

Me attempting to dance as well all know that I lack the skills. I did the macarena a lot. Actually, that song was playing when we walked into the bar so I got lucky. Haha.
I think the song here was Santana.

Goofiness.
I can't even remember the song. Must have been something with "you" in the words hence the pointing.

Fun. The sign behind us is what we ordered with the bottle and nachos, etc.

More of the crew and the random guys we met while there.  There is a bond between foreigners. We naturally group up with each other - doesn't matter who you are or if you know anyone. When you're in a strange country and you see someone who looks like they might possibly understand your language - it's okay to randomly go up to them. Better to buy them shots! haha

The tables before being smashed and more fun dancing.

We pretty much ended our night there. After this place, it was roughly 5:30am, we went downstairs to another bar but they had strobe lights going on and - as we all know - Brooke doesn't well with strobe lights. Especially after a night of drinking. We hopped on the subway and, a subway ride that took us roughly 40 minutes get to Seoul, took us roughly 3 hours to get back. Note to self - subways when drunk are difficult to figure out. Especially when you are unfamiliar with taking a subway in the first place! We figured it out, however, and arrived home safely.
Everyone we met was just plain awesome. It was a wonderful experience. Janet was a fantastic guide and friend.
What a night. What an adventure. When are we doing this again?! ^_^
